A Firm Commitment To The Environment

A Wilson Design has always had a firm commitment to the environment. It starts with creating product that is built right the first time, using top quality materials and designs that are well thought out and enduring. We stress the use of domestic and local wood sources certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. We use zero formaldehyde plywood products whenever possible and all of our water based finishes are certified by the Greenguard Environmental Institute.

Waste Not

Keeping true to our Yankee roots, nothing goes to waste in our shop. We reuse plywood waste stock for parts like cabinet bases, and donate smaller wood scraps to local school programs and the UNH woodshop. Wood that is unusable is burned for heat in the winter. Wood chips and shavings are used by a horse farm up the road. Our shop itself was built from wood I harvested from our property. The shop is super insulated with cellulose insulation, recycled from used newspapers, and it is oriented to the sun to take advantage of natural light. We at AWD are committed to leaving this world a better place then when we found it.
